Proof Copies

I love when a proof comes in the mail.  It's usually the first time I get to see one of my books as an actual book, rather than a stack of printed paper. This came yesterday:

So, you know... SQUEEEEE!

What do y'all think of the new cover direction? The proof shown above is a paperback, but I've been asked about the possibility of a hardcover edition. The problem is pricing. A hardcover would probably need to be priced around $35. True, it's three books in one, but that seems too high for a YA book, even though the individual editions retail for $13.99 each.

Would YOU pay $35 for a hardcover 3-in-1 edition? Seriously, let me know in comments.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pay $35 for a book--either HC or PB.

I probably wouldn't pay $35 for a book either. Although it's only £21, which doesn't seem so bad. I do love the cover!!

Thanks, Brenda!

I know the 3pack is a better deal, but I probably wouldn't pay that much for a book.

Yeah, we'll probably stick with the paperback for the 3-in-1. It'll probably list for $26.99, but Amazon usually discounts them.

25 is more doable than 35.
I'm liking the new cover-though the "candlestick" really has grown on me ;)

I prob woulnd't pay $35 - even though it is three books in one. That might just be some kind of mental block since I manage to pay more when buying them individually. :) As for the cover - I think it looks good!

I agree with Brandi I would pay $25 for sure for a hardcover definitely!

I love the new cover! And no, I probably wouldn't pay $35 just to have a hardcover when I could get a paperback for less.

The new cover rocks! I agree that $35 is to high. $26_28 is more reasonable.

I love the new cover and I love the books but I probably wouldn't pay more than the average price of 18.99 for a book. I'm sorry! I think Jay Z tried to sell his book for 30 and a few weeks later I saw it seriously discounted at Borders.

It would make great bookmarks and posters!

I would prefer such a huge book in paperback, since I don't really enjoy reading hardbacks that are super thick.

Squee!! That's a very mysterious and exciting looking cover.
Hmm, I would pay 35$ for a hardcover three in one. But the timing would have to be right - I only splurge every once in a while, and that's usually on Amazon, where I buy enough to get free shipping. Last hardcovers I bought were new releases, by Diana Gabaldon and Tolkien.
If it was about 20$ trade paperback (is that what they call the large paperback editions?) I'd buy it right away!
