Segueing from yesterday's topic, I can count the movies made from TV shows that should have been made on one hand. Movie-to-TV is okay--M*A*S*H and Buffy both stand out as incredible examples. But TV-to-movie almost never works.
However, I just saw a trailer that might prove me wrong:
We have plenty of talented writers around. Why is Hollywood insisting on rehashing this old stuff (that rarely works) instead of taking a chance on something fresh and new?
Vicki, it's easy to understand when you cynically recognize that it's not about creating something good--it's about creating something that will sell. *sigh*
TV series are very long. When it is made into a movie, only characters can be shown. But there has to be a definite plot that has to fix in 2 hrs of timeframe, than sequential episodes in tv. So its like, same name, but entirely different products.

Yeah, today's post topic is simply an excuse to show you something funny. Happy weekend, everyone!
Although, to its credit, the ADDAMS FAMILY movie had the classic line:
"Gomez, don't torture yourself. That's MY job."
Super cool! Thanks for the video... sometimes it's nice to be proven wrong isn't it? LOL
TV to movie...don't get me started.

ARGH
Glad you liked the video, Jen!

Good point, Nithin!
tv to movie greatness:
firefly to serenity
while serenity is better if you've watched firefly, it's not necessary to throughly enjoy the film.
now, we need a sequel or a new season...
SERENITY worked as a movie, but it SHOULD have been an entire second season of FIREFLY.
And then there should have been about three more seasons.
*sigh* I need a Joss Whedon fix now. Where'd I put Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog?"
I still say "serenity now" whenever I hear the word serenity. My kids think I'm crazy.
I do the same thing, Julie! I think it's permanently embedded in our brains, like "Who you gonna call?"
I Know What You're Thinking
And I love your bear.
Vicki sent me over...
Didn't MASH start as a movie and then become a show????
I KNOW what you're thinking
Welcome, Jolene, Sharon, and Abhishek!
Jolene--thanks for the bear-affirmation!
Sharon--sure did! Many people point out that the TV series actually lasted significantly longer than the actual war it depicted.
And now I guess I'm one of those people.
This was awesome! Seinfeld will always remain my favorite sitcom. I never get tired of watching the reruns. Thanks for sharing!
