I have Google Alerts for all of our SHP authors and their books. Today, I get one for Jennifer Armentrout. It's a request on a file sharing site for her book, Pure, and it includes the following:
Does anyone have Jennifer Armentrout's Pure (Covenant #2)?? I've been looking for it for quite some time now and I'd appreciate your help.... I know she's in the opt out list so here's my e-mail: r**********@yahoo.com
Sooooo, this individual KNOWS that the author and publisher have taken legal steps to keep people from stealing the e-book version by uploading it to the site... AND I now have this person's email address.
What should I do?
Option A: Ignore it.
Option B: Send her a thoughtful and calm email about why pirating the book harms authors and publishers, especially small publishers and new authors, and include a link to where she can buy the book.
Option C: Sign her up for every single newsletter, dating site, and Nigerian prince scam I can find online.
Option D: Post her email address publicly and ask Jennifer's legions of loyal fans to go all Option C on her @$$.
Decisions, decisions...
And have a Happy Easter, peeps! (get it? "peeps?" Like the marshmal--oh, never mind)
