We have a few bits of Half-Blood related stuff here today at the Bear, and the first is...
A COVER REVEAL!
Here's the cover of the third book in the Covenant series, Deity. It's scheduled to come out November 6th, 2012.
We're pretty psyched about it.
Please, please, PLEASE vote for Alex in the YA Sisterhood tourney today! http://ya-sisterhood.blogspot.com/2011/12/match-11-nora-seed-10-vs-alex-seed-23.html
And finally, Half-Blood is up for a cover art award over at All Things Urban Fantasy (Best Object Cover, about halfway down). http://allthingsurbanfantasy.blogspot.com/2011/12/voting-is-now-open-3rd-annual.html. We'd love your vote there, too.
Happy Monday!

Fan Trailers
I LOVE this; a fan has made a book trailer for Half-Blood:
Unfortunately, she used a BUNCH of copyrighted material. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure Joss Whedon, at least, would be cool with it.
And he'd do an AMAZING job directing a Half-Blood movie. Just sayin'.

Daimon
Daimon is here!
The downloads are FREE from the Spencer Hill Press site:
http://www.site.spencerhillpress.com/Daimon.php
A paperback version can be ordered from Amazon.
"Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing 'I smite thee!' as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life."
For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards… and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.
According to her mother, that’s a good thing.
But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill.
The daimons have found her.
C'mon, you know you totally want to read this book now. And it's FREE!

How to Publicize a Book
I love that we're being held up as a good example.

It's also pretty cool that a current search on Amazon for "Half-Blood" lists Armentrout first and Rowling second.

Potty Mouth Error
We're getting more stuff ready for Jennifer's debut--including submitting Half-Blood to Amazon. I put everything up on Spencer Hill's vendor site, clicked submit, and got this:
Seriously? They call it "potty mouth?"
As some longtime BFFs may recall, this isn't the first time Amazon has accused me of indecency: http://bookreviewstation.com/author-blog/guest-blog-kate-kaynak-minder/
Seriously, though, I don't know what triggered it this time. Guesses, anyone?
"Input failed potty mouth validation."

Half-Blood
A Covenant Novel
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi—pure-bloods—have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals—well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.
Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:
Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.
Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Debut Author
How cool is this? Jennifer's book is already getting noticed. She's listed in The Story Siren's 2011 Debut Author Challenge, and several people have already added her to their TBR lists.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is amazing! Fans of VAMPIRE ACADEMY will love it. The main character, Alex, has a wonderfully edgy, sarcastic voice, and she's simultaneously strong and vulnerable. Put this on your "to-read" list; you won't be disappointed!
